The site
LOCATION
The site is approximately 50 hectares in size and is located across four parcels within the Heydon Estate on land adjacent to Heydon in the parish area of Cawston.
Boundaries of the site are largely characterised by robust hedgerow and tree planting to its edges. A large area of woodland abuts much of the site’s northern boundary, this area also features a modest lake within proximity of the site boundary. With the exception of the noted woodland area, the site is surrounded by arable land to all aspects.
WHY THIS SITE?
The site is not located within or adjacent to any statutory landscape or ecological designations. The site is also fairly well screened from the surrounding area and from local residences by existing mature hedgerows and trees as well as established woodland.
The site is located within a short distance to a local electricity network connection point, at the Salle Substation, so electricity generated at source will not have to travel far to feed into the National Grid.
IS IT REQUIRED?
There is a legal obligation to decarbonise the UK economy to respond directly to the climate and ecological emergencies. This project will make a tangible contribution to the wider process of decarbonisation, which is good for the economy, vital for national security, and kind to planet Earth.
